LEST WE FORGET

On this day in 1918, "The Great War" ended with the signing of The Treaty of Versailles. The people of that time thought that they had just ended "the War to End All Wars." Sadly, they could never have been more wrong. Mankind's nature leads to conflict. Whether it's because of political, ethnic, religious, economic reasons or just plain animosity or orneriness, the human race is fated to clash for/over whatever excuse. Men, women, husbands, wives, sons, daughters, military personnel and civilians have lost/given their lives in battle. No matter what your personal views are of conflict, please remember that, those that have died were someone's hero.

So, whether you call it Armistice Day, Rememberance Day, Poppy Day, Veterans' Day or just November 11, 2009, think of those who are gone.

And somehow ... no matter how hard we try to honor history and the fallen ... we keep making the same mistakes ... over ... and over ... and over. If only we could LEARN something from what we remember.

Well said, and hopefully, SOME day, we'll get off this stupid circle we keep going around.....

Suppress testosterone and maybe we might get peace.

I've always thought the greatest show of courage and bravery was those in the military...and, unselfishness..."Greater love hath no man than this, to lay down his life for his friends".

I believe that, too, Nantz. I just wish it wasn't necessary. And Val, I believe you wanted to include one very important exception to the testosterone suppression, yes?

Not sure about the testosterone factor. After all a number of women in history started and/or supported several wars.

Well, no matter who started or where they take place, people die. Let's not take the deaths lightly.
