FROM FUZZY

This one is from fuzzy! She was sitting in a library, surrounded by pre-teens (I can picture it in my head. lol), as she sent me this e-mail. You know, she is on vacation and the computer there is not strong enough for blogging. But she wanted me to post this:

Dear "Mr." Wolf and the Decision Makers at NBC/USA,

I understand the reason for dumping Mr. D and Ms. E is to keep costs of producing LOCI down. However, have you really thought about your actions? You may initially save money by giving Mr D and Ms. E the boot, however, in the long run the show is going to suffer greatly because of the loss of it's two stars. I know that Dick Wolf has always maintained that the show is "story" driven, not "character" driven. How could he be SO wrong.
Mr. D'Onofrio breathed life into Detective Bobby Goren. No Goren, no life, no viewers, no show. It's simple as that. To make it easier for the Decision Makers to understand: no viewers, no sponsors, no money, no show.
I guess that means: No D'Onofrio, no viewers, no show, no sponsors, no money. Hence, no D'Onofrio........no show......no money. Isn't money the factor behind all of this decision making? If you don't keep LOCI's 2 main characters, the characters (and actors) that MADE LOCI the hit that it is, where is your precious money going to come from? LOCI commands the highest fees for commercials. Why would you bite off the hand that is feeding your precious coffers?
You say that Bobby Goren (Vincent D'Onofrio) is too dark a character for USA. You say that LOCI is too dark for USA. You say that USA is going for "lighter" television fare.
Then I ask, where the HELL does SVU fit into this equation?? That show is a laugh a minute! I bet you won't get rid of SVU reruns. I bet you won't get rid of LOCI reruns. Because, if you do get rid of these 2 shows' reruns, your pockets are going to feel pretty light. The industry is driven by greed. Money is the key.
The key to LOCI is Vincent D'Onofrio and Kathryn Erbe.

So, what's wrong with this picture: LOCI without Goren and Eames (and Ross)?

My theory is, no Goren and Eames...........very few viewers.............sponors paying less for ads...........cancelling the show.
What happens to your income? What happens to your pockets?

Mr. Wolf, NBC.........are you that unconcerned about money that you will toss a proven money maker away? Whether you want to believe it or not, Vincent D'Onofrio and Kathryn Erbe ARE LOCI. Why not get some writers and a show runner in that will return LOCI to the status that it was in seasons 1-3. Humor was present then. Bobby and Alex were "lighter".
Give the show and its fan base the respect that they're due.
If SVU reruns fall into the category of "lighter" fare, then, LOCI should have no problems whatsoever about fitting in to your so-called standards.

Right on, Fuzzy! You couldn't have said it better!

The push to deeper shades of "dark" can after the move to USA, so it is odd that they object to it now...a lame excuse, if I ever heard one. It is about the short term bottom line. Whoever made these decisions probably will have moved on before the consequences show up.

It's nice to know that Fuzzy is 'answering the call to arms' with the rest of us.

The Hallmark Channel in the UK starts showing season 8 in a couple of weeks. I caught a trailer for it last night. Their slogan is 'I Am....' and there's Jeff Goldblum, with the words 'Criminal Intent'. Removing all the curse words I inserted at the time, my response was 'Over my rotting corpse!!'
