Vincent D'Onofrio Returns To Criminal Intent For Tenth Season
This is news for the fans of "Law & Order: Criminal Intent" now airing on USA network. The news is mixed. Some good and some not so good. The bad news is that it looks like the series is heading into its final season on air over on USA. The good news may or may not make up for that.
According to Deadline Hollywood, Vincent D'Onofrio is returning to the series in his former role as Detective Robert Goren. The actor left the series back during its eighth season on air. The series will return for its final season next year with eight episodes. There are also plans to try to bring back another departed series star, Kathryn Erbe. There are no plans to ask Jeff Goldblum back for the final season.
Jeff Wachtel, president of USA's original programming, had this to say about the return of the series on Tuesday: “We have been the fortunate caretakers of this legendary series, and we plan to give it the world-class farewell it so richly deserves.”
There is more though. It looks like the final season of Law & Order: Criminal Intent will be used as launch pad for another all-new series by Dick Wolf. If a spin-off happens it will be a series with Vincent D'Onofrio and his character Detective Robert Goren to star in. No word on when that series will debut, but a pilot commitment has been made for the new project.
It is being reported that the only reason why Law & Order: Criminal Intent is returning for this final season is because Vincent D'Onofrio agreed to return. USA Network seems to be on the cutting edge of programming and only growing in popularity. A new series from Dick Wolf should be exciting to see!
