cautious

If we are fortunate enough for the rumors to be true and Mr. D and Ms. E return to bid farewell to LO:CI, I pray that the idiots-that-be will do it right, with dignity AND with Deakins. The only way for Major Case to ride off into the sunset is with our 3 dear detectives TOGETHER.

BREAKING NEWS!!! USA Picks Up 'Law & Order: CI' For Final Season With Star Vincent D'Onofrio & Gives Dick Wolf Pilot Commitment For New Project

By NELLIE ANDREEVA | Tuesday September 21, 2010 @ 1:00pm PDT

EXCLUSIVE: After months of negotiations, USA Network has closed a deal to bring Law & Order: Criminal Intent back for an 8-episode 10th season with the series' original star Vincent D’Onofrio, who will return as Detective Robert Goren, a role he played for the first eight seasons. Discussions are under way with Kathryn Erbe and other CI alums sans Jeff Goldblum, who recently announced his exit, to come back for the show's farewell season. Throughout the entire dealmaking process, USA's intention was to bring CI back only if D'Onofrio agrees to return.

Additionally, USA's production arm, Universal Cable Prods., which produces Law & Order: CI with Wolf Films, has handed Law & Order chief Dick Wolf a pilot commitment for a new project.

Law & Order: CI will return with new episodes next year. “We have been the fortunate caretakers of this legendary series, and we plan to give it the world-class farewell it so richly deserves,” said Jeff Wachtel, USA's president of original programming and UCP's co-head of original content.

He listed several factors that were key in the network's decision to push through with the deal. "First, it was to bring devoted audience for the finale and create an event," he said, noting that the sereis finale of USA's Monk still ranks as the highest-scripted cable telecast of all time. "Secondly, you have an opportunity to create a new launch pad," Wachtel said as the network plans to use the final season of CI to launch a new series or help an excisting series grow much like the final season of Monk was used to launch White Collar.

Given CI's big pricetag as an eight-year-old high-end procedural, especially as it started off on broadcast TV, making the deal was not easy, Wachtel said but praised NBC Cable chief Bonnie Hammer for her help in making it happen. "Everybody had to make concessions, but it is the hallmark of a good deal when everyone has to suffer equally: the network had to absorb some of the cost as did the studio, and Dick and the above-the-line talent were gracious in addressing a very specific set of circumstances."

"I want to thank Bonnie and Jeff for bringing Criminal Intent back for a tenth season,” Wolf said. “Only time will tell if this is a fond farewell or a renaissance for Detective Robert Goren but everyone both here and in New York is ecstatic about going back to work on a show that’s a passion for all of us. Signed, Brett Favre."

While this is the end, Wachtel left the door opened a bit. “The plan is for this to be the series finale, but with a Dick Wolf franchise, one really never knows until it’s over,” he said.

Endorsements 1

"Well, he's at it again."
"God, he's shameless!"
"Ever since the two of us got those endorsements for the police calender...."
"And don't forget my hair products one...."

"Geez, I thought the others were bad."
"Ha! The foot powder product."
"He wanted everyone to know about that. "Here, sniff my feet.""

"The condom one HAS to be the worst!"
"I could have killed him every time he mentioned the "Goren-ormous" size."

"I can't believe this one, though."
"What is it?"
"It's for an anti-stain deodorant."
"Please tell me this is a dream........"

An oldie but, a goodie!

Priest Sipping Vodka

A new priest at his first mass was so nervous he could hardly speak.
After mass he asked the monsignor how he had done.
The monsignor replied, "Well when I am
worried about getting nervous on the pulpit, I put a glass of vodka next to the water glass. if I start to get nervous, I take a sip." So next Sunday he took the monsignor's advice. At the beginning of the sermon, he got nervous and took a drink. He proceeded to talk up a storm. Upon his return to his office after mass, he found the following note on the door:

1. Sip the Vodka, don't gulp.
2. There are 10 commandments, not 12.
3. There are 12 disciples, not 10.
4. Jesus was consecrated, not constipated.
5. Jacob wagered his donkey, he did not bet his ass.
6. We do not refer to Jesus Christ as the late J. C.
7. The Father, Son, and Holy Ghost are not referred to as Daddy, Junior and the Spook.
8. David slew Goliath, he did not kick the shit out of him.
9. When David was hit by a rock and was knocked off his donkey, don't say he was stoned off his ass.
10. We do not refer to the cross as the "Big T."
11. When Jesus broke the bread at the Last Supper he said, "Take this and eat it for it is my body." He did not say "Eat me"
12. The recommended grace before a meal is not: Rub-A-Dub-Dub thanks for the grub, yeah God.
13. Next Sunday there will be a taffy pulling contest at St. Peter's, not a Peter pulling contest at St. Taffy's!

Challenge

Mr. D'Onofrio is talking about his pet project entitled "Johnny and Me." He is (so far, to some degree) writer, producer and director of this project. I really wish that he would star in this movie, also.

Past producer/writer/director/stars include: Mel Brooks, Robert Redford, John Wayne, George Clooney, Clint Eastwood, Kevin Costner. I wish that Mr. D'Onofrio could flex ALL of these muscles. I believe that he is more than capable. More than competent. More than qualified. And, IMHO at least as good of an actor as any of the aforementioned. All things aside, I truly believe that Mr. D'Onofrio is best suited for the lead part.

I have NO idea of what all of this entails. I'm willing to help. I'm willing to donate. I'm willing to work on the project.

This is my challenge to Mr. D'Onofrio.

Chicken/Egg

The more I watch Mr. D and his friend George, the more I see of another of Mr. D's friends: Bobby.
The resemblances are amazing. The pauses. The switch of topics. The hand gestures. The stuttering The I'm-only-one-breath-away-from-the-other-side looks. And especially, the "I know something you don't shit eatin' grin".
Bobby and George could be brothers. Did Francis have another skeleton in the closet? LOL
Is "Bobby" George's alter ego or, is "George" Bobby's alter ego?
Is George the inner self or, is Bobby?
So, in a "nut" shell, who is the true self?
In other words: What came first, the chicken or the egg??

Jeff Goldblum leaving “L&O: CI”: Replacement ideas?

Let it rest. Bobby and Alex have made their peace. Ms. E and Mr. D have, also. Besides, who cares about JG? Coyote and Co. deserted the show long ago.

The Odd Couple

In the beginning.....

(This is the real color of the clouds.)

On July 14th, one of many thunderstorms rolled into the Devils Lake, ND area. I watched in awe of Mother Nature's beauty and formidability.

The birth of a tornado right overhead.

The sun was shining on us. The cloud line was literally right above. The yellow crop is canola (rapeseed in Canada). This storm front brought us 70 mph winds, 3 inches of rain in half an hour and grapefruit sized hail. It lasted about an hour and went to the SE towards Fargo, ND.

The next day, this fellow showed up in our yard.

We scared him off. He flew away kind of wobbly and ungracefully landed in the canola.

He showed up for 2 more days and we chased him off. On the third day, we had a pretty lethargic pelican on or hands. I called the Sheriff's Dept., who told me to call the North Dakota Game and Fish Dept., who told me to call the U.S. Fish and Wildlife Dept. Naturally, no one believed me. Finally, I was taken seriously and was told that a team would be sent out to see what was going on.

Three guys showed up about an hour and a half later. I was worried that we might not find him because he would waddle off into the field occasionally. The looks on their faces when the big guy was sitting 5 ft. from our deck with his new found fuzzy friend was priceless. They said they had NEVER dealt with a LIVE pelican before. So, we kind of corralled him and one of the guys threw a blanket on him and we unceremoniously (and VERY gently) convinced him into a travel crate. (Did you know that these suckers snap at their "opponents"? I'd hate to be on their bad sides!) The men took him to a federal wildlife preserve about 4 miles from us and released him. They kept an eye on him for a few days and then he flew away. So, I guess we did a good deed and have a great story to tell.

Oh, a wondrous bird is the pelican!
His bill holds more than his belican.
He can take in his beak
Enough food for a week.
But I'm darned if I know how the helican.
